The Only WayMonday, March 29th 2010 8:58PM

Hi Mark,  I went to see Ellis Paul last Friday night and his second song was "The Only Way!"  He did a great job but it did make me miss seeing you here in Portland, Oregon!!!

I LOVE your new record.   Thank You!  I was looking forward to hearing the "embellished" versions of the ones from Barn Raising as well as ones I hadn't heard yet.  Well done!!!

I'm still waiting for another swing record and to see you back here on the west coast someday.

Take care, and all the best to you and your family.

Suzie

Well I just got all giddy that you replied to my earlier post haha, we're in Canada Mark. It was through Lori Mckenna that I found you on Youtube, I'm a huge Faith Hill fan so I think that's how I found her and when I did, I couldn't stop listening to her either. That's how I came across your music. I can tell you that you are both a part of my daily routine, if you guys get a chance to come to Ontario that would be a must see event for me, and by the way, I found you back on Youtube again..yeah !! lol. Check out Summerfolk in Owen Sound, Ontario would be a great venue for you guys, outdoor amphitheatre surrounded by natural stone seating right on the side of the water, sound is amazing and the crowds are welcoming and awesome !! All the best, keep it coming !!! :)

Mark,

You may not remember me but I was a grad student at Dartmouth with Dick Holmes.  Just thought I would let you know that the Eatons passed along your latest CD and we are really loving it.  My 4 yo especially loves Baltimore.  My wife Anne and I love them all.

Anyway- please let us know if you're ever in the DC area.  We would love to see you live.

All the best.

Pete M.

Hey Pete...I do remember you...hot shot bird research, right?  I am glad the Eatons are still out there spreading the word about my music.  I do get down to DC, though nothing's on the books right now.  If you sign up on the mailing list, you'll be sure to know when something is booked.

All the best to you and thanks for listening! -mark

Hiya Mark, I too found you on Youtube and just fell in love with your music, Volunteers touched me so much I was hooked. My son has joined the Forces and we have a close family friend leaving for Afghanistan this month, he's on his way here now to say goodbye. I watched the black and white video of it and was so disappointed to find it not there now to share with the boys already there. Buying from itunes immediately as I send this off, God Bless and thank you for this heartfelt song.

Hi Lisa...I get really overwhelmed by responses like this, thank you.  I am honored that Volunteers spoke to you so deeply.  I was surprised to learn it's been taken down from YouTube, but the video is still available at the My Damn Channel link above.

Not sure where you are located, but I look forward to getting the chance to play this song for you in person some time.  And my prayers are with your son and family friend.  -mark

Mark--

I absolutely love the Josh Ritter cover.  I'm so jealous of those folks across the pond that get to hear you guys together.

Maybe next month you'll try my favorite Ritter song Lawrence, KS--you'd sound great on it.

Any chance of getting back to Virginia anytime soon?

Thanks!  I was really happy with the way that late night demo experiment came out.  The tour with Josh and Ray was fantastic, and all involved we eager to at least explore the idea of future shows in the States, so you never know.  No dates in Virginia currently on the books, but the schedule changes all the time, so stay tuned.  -mark

Hi Mark, I found you on youtube just last week as I was looking for Lori Mckenna. I listened to the song Volunteers and was floored. So I have been buying your music of itunes now.

Hi Helen...So glad you found my music.  I am lucky that Lori has gone to such great lengths to introduce her fans to my music.  -mark

Bennett HolzworthWednesday, July 22nd 2009 11:04AM

Hey Mark, I just wanted to share with some of your fans that I have some of the letterpress barn raising posters for sale. I've included the link to the ad. I'm not sure if this is the appropriate place to post this, so feel free to delete this if it doesn't fit. Hope to catch you when you are in Nebraska again. -Bennett

Hi folks (and Bennett)...Do yourselves a favor and check out Bennett's work, he is great with a letterpress!  -mark

Great Job at Woody Guthrie Festival in OkemahMonday, July 13th 2009 9:18PM

Mark - if you happen to read this.... Your set at the Crystal Theater in Okemah was excellent... My wife & I (along with obviously many others) thoroughly enjoyed it... Hope you had as much fun as we did & would certainly encourage your return to WoodyFest... Thanks from a bunch of Okies (both natural & adopted)....

I do read this, though sometimes it takes awhile for me to respond.  Thanks so much for your kind words regarding my set at Woody Fest.  I hope to come back next year.  -mark

Woody Guthrie FestMonday, July 13th 2009 10:53AM

Great show in Okemah this year. Please come back next year! I'll definitely be looking forward to your return. You are absolutely top tier.

Thanks so much, I really enjoyed making my debut at Woody Fest.  I hope to return in years to come.  -mark

Darwin Songhouse songsSunday, July 5th 2009 4:51PM

Hi Mark,
I have been listening to the live CD from the Darwin Project and have to say how much I love your voice. Kingdom Come is great as is Mother of Mysteries (love the harmonies). Maybe I'll get to see you live when you are back in the UK (Scotland). Had not heard of you before but really glad I have now. I have just ordered your CD and wonder if you could sign it for me before it is posted off.

Many Thanks and keep the music coming.

Regards,

Anne Polwart

Thanks, Anne.  Are you by any chance related to my co-writer on "Mother Of Mysteries" Karine Polwart, or is that just a common Scottish surname?  In any event, thanks for the kind words and I'm glad you've found my music.  -mark

Your New GuitarSaturday, June 27th 2009 7:29AM

Hey Mark - I saw your show last night with Lori McKenna at Landmark College and really enjoyed listening to the two of you play together. I am a guitar enthusiast and I'm wondering if you could tell us about the little parlor guitar you are now playing. I've seen you play it several times now and I think it's a really wonderful instrument. Thanks - Scott

Thanks for coming to the show, Scott.  My guitar was made for me by TJ Thompson, who works out of West Concord MA.  He is a fantastic luthier and repair guy (no one better on old Martins, in my opinion), and he really outdid himself on my guitar.  He has said he was so happy with it that he'd consider making one for someone else, but it's reeeeeally expensive.  -mark

Blown awayTuesday, June 9th 2009 4:23PM

And Your album Sir (Delivery) is the soundtrack to my summer. Iconic. Totally blown away. Seriously moved by this. I really like it when music finds me. Emotive uplifting and very beautiful. Every best wishes to the musicians and engineers that made this happen. You Sir are coming to England again. I love that bit. And the guitar chords section. We love you in England. So much.

I love being called "sir," it's so much better than "Mr. Erelli!"  Thanks so much, glad the music resonated with you.  I will be back in England this August, at the Shrewsbury Folk Festival and at the Green Note in London. -mark

It was such a pleasure to host you in our living room last weekend. Our guests have sent numerous emails about what a wonderful experience it was! Thank you, than you! We would love to have you back again and again.

Thanks Mark--Jess, John, Madelyn, and LesLea McGuire

Hey guys, I had a great time playing for you as well.  Thanks so much for helping bring me back to the Midwest.  Let's do it again sometime.  -mark

Bend In the RiverThursday, April 16th 2009 1:51AM

Hi Mark:

I first heard you on XM Radio when one of the country stations played Bend In the River.  I'm from Minneapolis, which I guess is a city on a bend in the river, but the song really brings to mind my Dad's little hometown in Iowa.  Amazing song; it has a fantastic, epic, midwestern tragic quality.  Anyway, I'm following your music now and discovering all of your other great songs.  Come to the Twin Cities sometime soon!  Thanks, Mark.  -John

Hi John...I love it when someone uses the word 'epic' to describe my music, thanks for the kind words.  I'd love to get back to the Twin Cities.  Last time I was there I was backing up Lori McKenna when she opened for Faith Hill and Tim McGraw at the XCel Center in 2007.  I'll be back as soon as I can.   -mark

Ron G.Saturday, February 21st 2009 3:57PM

Howdy Mark . . . love your work on Antje's new CD; I simply love that album to death.  How about doing a Mark Erelli version of "Vertigo" as one of your upcoming MP3 downloads?

Hey Ron...Thanks for the kind words, it was an honor to be asked to be a part of Antje's new cd.  "Vertigo" could be a possibility as a future mp3 of the month, but it feels much more like an "Antje" song than one of mine, despite the co-write.  Still, never say never!  -mark

Hi Mark,  My friend Ellen sent me a hang-up that says, "to err is human to really screw up...requires a computer!"  LOL!!!  I'm sure everyone can relate to what you did!
I did leave you a comment on my surprise to find you on this seasons "Sing Out" disc.  SO cool!!!  I'm also thrilled that The Loft on XM is finally playing your music!!!
And... Mississippi Studios here in the west coast Portland is remodeling and I'm looking forward to seeing there in the future!  The link shows you the progress and some really cool video's of musicians singing in the wreckage.  ~ enjoy!
Happy New year!

Suzie

Hi Suzie...I love Mississippi Studios, it's hard to imagine how they could make it better.  Can't wait to get back there and play again.  -mark
